'His legs have gone': Pundit says £70m Manchester United player is no longer right for the Red Devils

Manchester United have endured a difficult season and have a big summer ahead of them with wholesale changes potentially on the cards.

The Red Devils currently sit sixth in the Premier League table and will no longer be able to make the top four this term.

Europa League remains a possibility through either the league or by winning the FA Cup, but it’s by no means a certainty.

Sim Jim Ratcliffe has already made big changes at boardroom level in order to help reshape Manchester United for next season and beyond.

Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada are set to join as sporting director and CEO respectively, while Dan Ashworth is being eyed as technical director.

The expectation is that Manchester United will be busy in the transfer market, with big incomings and major outgoings predicted.

Numerous Red Devils players have underperformed and could be in line for an Old Trafford exit.

One player who has been tipped to leave Manchester United is Casemiro, who has sadly struggled this season.

Pundit Eamon Dunphy, speaking on The Stand with Eamon Dunphy podcast, has suggested that the £70million man is no longer at the required level for the Red Devils.

What has Eamon Dunphy said about Manchester United midfielder Casemiro?

Dunphy said: “Casemiro, as I have said before on this podcast and elsewhere, his legs have gone now.

“He was a terrific player and he is only 31. He won five Champions League medals, winner’s medals, with Real Madrid.

“He’s been a terrific player, but now he can’t run.”

Mark Goldbridge has echoed what Dunphy said, telling talkSPORT a few days ago: “Looking at the way it is going, I think Casemiro is a good start [to leave].

“He is just not at the level that he needs to be and I don’t think he will get back to that.

“He was brilliant last season but I think moving Casemiro on, get a bit of money, is a good idea.

“Moving players on isn’t always about being toxic and saying, ‘Get out of my club’, it is about pragmatism, so I think Casemiro goes.”

It’s a shame that Casemiro has struggled this season. Last term, he was absolutely superb for Manchester United, but it hasn’t been the case this season.

Let’s see what happens in the summer. With so much set to change – perhaps even the manager – and then pre-season, it’s not a foregone conclusion that Casemiro will leave.

It would be great to see him recover his form in pre-season and get another chance, but at the same time, the club has to think about the future.
