Cole Palmer can do something in Chelsea’s game against Tottenham that only Erling Haaland has ever done

Cole Palmer is certainly enjoying a meteoric rise to the top of the game since moving to Chelsea last summer.

The England international sits on 20 Premier League goals in what is essentially his first full season as a first team player.

Chelsea were even branded ‘Cole Palmer FC’ in the build up to their recent game against Arsenal by manager Mauricio Pochettino, with him facing a race against time to be fit.

He didn’t make it to the game and they were defeated comprehensively, with some being confused at this method of inspiration by the boss.

When he has been fit, Palmer has impressed particularly in his recent outings at Stamford Bridge.

He combined for seven goals in his last two home games against Manchester United and Everton, almost single-handedly helping them to some crucial points in the race for European football.

This should put him in good stead for the crucial London derby against Tottenham, a side he did actually find the net against earlier this season too.

Cole Palmer hat-trick sees him match Erling Haaland feat

If the 21-year-old was able to record at least another hat-trick tomorrow, he would match a feat that only Erling Haaland has been able to do in the Premier League.

The Manchester City striker is up to now the only player to record this in the history of the top flight, meaning his former teammate has the chance to join him in pretty illustrious company.

Mauricio Pochettino under pressure

One man who will be hoping for a seriously good performance from his star man is Pochettino, who is no doubt under pressure at Stamford Bridge.

It is expected that the club are looking for European football to be delivered ahead of next season, and if not have a number of names on their list to potentially bring in to replace him over the summer.

This includes the likes of Ruben Amorim, who is expected to move on at the end of this campaign.
