'Future is massive', 'Tearing up the Prem': Fleetwood Town fans send Celtic a message after Bosun Lawal's loan spell ends

Bosun Lawal has spent a season away from Celtic on loan at English League One side Fleetwood Town.

Regular readers of this site will know that we have been keeping a close eye on his performances down south and it seems that despite suffering relegation with The Cods, Lawal’s time at the club was a huge personal success under Charlie Adam.

Brought to the club by Scott Brown, the Republic of Ireland u21 international made 46 appearances scoring six goals and created two.

Lawal’s versatility was also tested as Adam utilised him in the central midfield, centre of defence and even in both fullback positions.

Bosun Lawal’s emotional Fleetwood farewell

The 20-year-old posted an emotional message to Fleetwood, the staff and the fans and it is clear that the youngster really enjoyed his time there.

Posting a showreel on Instagram, Lawal said, “Big thanks to my teammates, my manager, and all the staff. My first full season in senior football had its ups and downs, but I return to Celtic as a stronger player thanks to the people around me.

“Fleetwood is a special club with special fans, and no doubt it will get back to where it belongs.

“Up the Cods🐟❤️”

Lawal earned rave reviews for his performances over the course of the season but now, he plans to make his mark at Celtic under Brendan Rodgers as he returns to the club this summer.

Charlie Adam’s Bosun Lawal Celtic verdict

The Fleetwood boss inherited Lawal after he took over the reins of the club from Scott Brown earlier this season.

However, that didn’t stop him from recognising that he had a special talent on his hands. Appointed the manager in December, Adam played the youngster in every game (bar one where he missed the Reading fixture in February) for the full 90 minutes except the last game of the season.

Taken off as an 83rd-minute sub in the 3-0 win over Burton Albion, Lawal was given the chance to wave goodbye to the fans. [Transfermarkt]

But the former Rangers midfielder has no doubt that Lawal has what it takes to make it at Celtic.

Adam said earlier this season [Balls.ie], “Unfortunately, he’s not our player, he’s a Celtic player but it’s a real privilege to have him. He’s a quality player, he dominated the game. His strength, his power and it was an unbelievable strike.

“The longer he’s in the building for us, from now until the end of the season, he will definitely make a difference to our team.

“He’s a top talent but hopefully with the journey we’re on and the support that we can give him, he goes back to Celtic next season and he goes and competes for a position because I believe he’s got the right credentials to be a Celtic player.”

Fleetwood fans tell Celtic they have a Premier League prospect

A true measure of how successful a player’s time at a club is is how the fans react when they make their exit.

We all know the drill, if the time has been poor, criticism comes their way. But in the case of Bosun Lawal, that couldn’t be further from the truth as they tell Celtic on Lawal’s post on X, that they have a star in the making.

One fan predicts a huge Premier Leauge future for Lawal:

Another fan admits that Lawal will make it to the top:

Whilst another lauded his undoubted talent.

Lawal impressed their supporters so much that this fan left a second message and this is where I think we should leave it:
