Ukraine has successfully rescued three more children from occupation: a girl and two boys. They are currently safe, according to the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.

Among the children are:

  • An 11-year-old girl who was left unattended by adults, putting her at risk of ending up in an occupied orphanage.
  • 9 and 13-year-old boys who were cared for by their older adult brother. The latter was at risk of falling into the hands of occupying forces.

"All the children are safe now. They are being attended to by medical professionals and psychologists," Prokudin added.

The head of the regional administration also mentioned that since the beginning of 2024, 66 children have been returned from the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region.

Deportation of children

Since the onset of the full-scale war, Russian terrorists have been forcibly relocating children to Belarus, temporarily occupied Crimea, or Russia. This has also prompted the issuance of an arrest warrant against dictator Vladimir Putin by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

As recently stated by the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Lubinets, Qatar has assisted Ukraine in repatriating four groups of children. Another group is expected to be returned soon.
