A baffling verdict: Wolves duo rank in Premier League's bottom 10 players

Wolves duo have been ranked as two of the Premier League’s 10 worst players this season after baffling verdict.

Now that the 2023/24 campaign is coming to an end, every Wolves player should look back on the season as a positive one.

Despite pre-season predictions of relegation being unanimous amongst pundits, under the guidance of Gary O’Neil, Wolves have secured a mid-table finish.

The Wolves manager has overseen plenty of memorable victories throughout the campaign. The 2-0 win against West Brom in the FA Cup particularly stands out after Wolves achieved their first victory over the Baggies at the Hawthorns this century.

Everyone in Wolves’ first team has more than played their part this season. Rotation in the squad has been vital in 2024 as the injuries stacked up.

Seniors such as Pablo Sarabia and Santiago Bueno have managed to force themselves into the side and have provided further competition.

However, two of Wolves’ squad players have been ranked in the bottom 10 players in the Premier League this season despite various good performances.

Two players who have been used sparingly throughout the season are Boubacar Traore and Hugo Bueno.

However, throughout the campaign, both have had their moments to shine due to injuries or O’Neil simply rotating the squad.

Yet, according to WhoScored, the pair have struggled throughout the Premier League campaign.

Traore has an average rating of 6.22 which ranks as the seventh-lowest while Hugo Bueno sits at 6.26, the tenth-lowest.

While they are far from the worst-ranked player, at first glance, this seems a bit alarming.

WhoScored claims that their ratings are ‘the most accurate, respected and well-known performance indicators in the world of football’.

However, based on recent performances, particularly Traore’s, these ratings seem a bit baffling.

Recent performances have shown that the duo can more than play a vital role next season.

Traore has been fantastic recently, with two stunning performances against Arsenal and Luton that forced him back into the starting XI.

As a result, O’Neil praised Traore after Wolves’ victory against the Hatters, stating that the midfielder was ‘very good’.

Likewise, Hugo Bueno’s performances have improved over recent months. The Spaniard’s big moment in Old Gold was stolen after his late goal against Coventry was soon cancelled out before the Championship side’s late winner.

While WhoScored may rank the duo in the bottom 10, in reality, they are far from it. If the pair keep their performances, they will undoubtedly play a massive role next season.
