Chelsea are big admirers of £30m Premier League star, they could make move for him this summer

Chelsea have not been afraid to explore the Premier League market in recent transfer windows.

Last summer, they raided Brighton & Hove Albion for Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez.

Cole Palmer also joined Chelsea from Manchester City, while in 2022, Raheem Sterling made the same move.

It now looks like the Blues could turn to one of their Premier League rivals again to strengthen their squad.

Despite all of the money the club have spent recently, Chelsea still look in need of investment, with Mauricio Pochettino‘s team nowhere near the top four.

Chelsea big fans of Premier League goalkeeper

Despite signing Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic last summer, the Blues could enter the market for a new goalkeeper.

They have been linked with Brazilian shot-stopper Bento, but a No.1 currently playing in the Premier League also appears to be on their radar.

According to TBR Football, Chelsea are huge admirers of Everton’s Jordan Pickford and could try to sign him in the summer.

Pickford has been at Goodison Park since 2017, joining Everton from Sunderland in a £30m deal.

Jordan Pickford an upgrade on Djordje Petrovic?

Petrovic is Chelsea’s current first-choice goalkeeper and did a pretty good job when he first came into the team.

However, the Serbian has made some sloppy mistakes of late, conceding a couple of goals at his near post.

As per FBref, Petrovic has a save percentage of 64.1% this season, while Pickford’s is 74%. His is also higher than Robert Sanchez’s 70.5%.

Ultimately, then, Pickford could be an upgrade on Petrovic, as well as Sanchez.

It will now be interesting to see whether Chelsea actually make a move for the England goalkeeper and if Everton would be willing to sell. They will not want to, but the club’s financial problems could see them have to get rid of a key player or two in the summer, so do not rule anything out.
