Report: 31-year-old Man City player set for his fifth league start of the season vs Wolves

It has been reported that a certain Manchester City player could be set to start against Wolves on Saturday.

One of the players whose fitness for the contest might be a doubt is Ederson Moraes.

It was claimed on Wednesday that the Brazilian international does not even have an injury and he could return to full training in the next few days.

As a result, one remains unaware of the £35 million man will even start the contest.

On one hand, the knock he suffered against Nottingham Forest does not seem serious at all, based on the aforementioned report.

But considering Ederson is expected to return to training soon, it seems like he might take a few days to rest and recover.

Man City player set to start against Wolves

Pep Guardiola will be hoping that he has a fully-fit squad to pick from as he prepares his team to face Wolves, despite their recent run of results not being the best.

In their last five Premier League outings, Gary O’Neil’s side have won just one game, drawing and losing two apiece.

However, Wolves are well capable of pulling off an upset, as they have shown on a few occasions against other “Big Six” teams this campaign.

Wolves beat Tottenham away from home 2-1, which was a massive result.

As a result, one would not be surprised if they back themselves to get a result at the Etihad Stadium as well.

The 11-placed side have also done the double over Chelsea and drawn 1-1 to Aston Villa.

However, it seems there is early team news relating to City.

According to a report by Manchester Evening News’ Ty Marshall, Manchester City number two Stefan Ortega is expected to start against Wolves.

It has also been claimed that the Sky Blues have no plans to rush Ederson to start games.

Checks are believed to have been conducted and the 30-year-old’s shoulder injury is not as serious as initially feared, with him expected to return before the ongoing season ends.

No reason to have any doubts about Stefan Ortega against Wolves

It is not ideal for Manchester City to have lost Ederson to injury for the time being but Stefan Ortega is more than an able deputy to come into the side against Wolves.

The German has been a class act whenever he has played this campaign, especially if the visitors test him on Saturday, he has shown time after time that he can come up with brilliant saves.

Ortega is also a commanding goalkeeper, much like Ederson and when Wolves try to cause City problems during set-pieces, he is expected to clasp the ball and boss proceedings in the box.

The 31-year-old will be looking forward to making his fifth start in the Premier League this season.
