Plans to convert The Duke’s Head in West Rudham into home submitted to West Norfolk Council

Proposals to convert a historic village pub into a home have been submitted to West Norfolk Council.

Owner Mun Fatt Tham has submitted a planning application to turn the Grade II-listed Duke’s Head in West Rudham into a residential property.

The building currently has a traditional bar area with three restaurant rooms and a kitchen downstairs, while the upstairs serves as accommodation for the owners.

The Lynn Road venue is currently listed for sale with a guide price of £385,000.

Fakenham-based agent Belton Duffey has said: “The current owners are looking to retire after 20 successful years in the business giving the new proprietors an opportunity to take full advantage of the good reputation and standing in the community alongside two decades of excellent reviews.”

Plans to convert the building into a residential property were submitted in late April, and the proposals are currently out for consultation.

An assistant conservation officer at the borough council has said they have no objections to the principle of changing the use of the building.

However, due to it being a listed building, any proposed alterations would be subject to a separate listed building application which would need to consider the “significance of the historic building and the justification of any proposed changes”.

The Duke’s Head building, which currently serves a variety of Asian cuisine, was constructed in the 17th century, and has 19th century extensions in place.
