‘Mindblowing’: Pundit says he’s really ‘shocked’ after watching £35m Tottenham player in person

Tottenham lost 3-2 at home to Arsenal in a game that wasn’t pretty to watch at the weekend.

Indeed, in a clash between two of the Premier League’s top teams, quality was lacking as many of the goals came from either individual errors or poor defending.

This wasn’t a game that we’ll be rewatching anytime soon, but there were some interesting takeaways from the game.

Speaking on the Optus Sport Football Podcast, Mark Schwarzer has been reviewing this game after watching it in the stadium, and he noted just how impressed he was by Micky Van de Ven.

The pundit spoke about the Dutch defender and how much he’s impressed him.

“The other thing I have to make a note about, watching Micky Van de Ven in the flesh. Seeing his pace was mindblowing, there aren’t many times when I sit at a game and I get surprised or shocked or really impressed by something, but his pace was off the charts, insane, brilliant to watch,” Schwarzer said.

Micky Van de Ven is so impressive

Van de Ven may not have been in the best of form over the past few weeks, but watching him in person is still an absolute treat.

Make no mistake about it, when you’re watching Van de Ven you’re watching more than just a footballer. You’re watching an elite athlete at work.

Seeing a human being move that quickly is a spectacle no matter which way you dress it up. Yes, the £35m man has room to improve in a lot of ways, but you can’t knock his athletic ability one bit.

Van de Ven is one of the single most impressive athletes the Premier League has ever seen, and we can imagine that watching him in person for the first time is quite the experience.
