Spurs sources insist they no longer want to sign 'superstar' Arsenal target this summer

Sources from Tottenham have now shared some information regarding a “superstar” striker.

Ange Postecoglou is seemingly on the lookout for some more firepower in attack after losing Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 – a star who Spurs haven’t even come close to replacing in truth, as hard as finding a similar forward may be.

There does – at least – appear to be plans to amend the lack of a proper No.9 at Tottenham right now, with sources inside Spurs now making a claim about one potential striker signing…

What Tottenham sources are saying about Santiago Gimenez

Well, insiders at Tottenham have now shared a line about Santiago Gimenez.

The Feyenoord No.29 – who has been described as a “Mexican superstar” – is a transfer target for Spurs this summer, according to Rudy Galetti.

In fact, the Italian journalist even claimed that talks have been held between Tottenham and Feyenoord.

Fuel was then added to the fire after Gimenez was spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to watch Sunday’s north London derby.

Now – however – Spurs sources have poured cold water on the rumours.

Insiders at Tottenham told Tom Barclay of The Sun: “Spurs sources playing down interest in Santiago Gimenez, despite the Mexican being in attendance at the NLD. Suggestion is he no longer a target.”

If true, that is very strange.

We can only assume that Tottenham are attempting to downplay the situation after Gimenez was spotted in N17 on Sunday, as we rarely see club sources come out and tell the media about transfer plans.

It would be odd if Spurs really have dropped the Mexico international as a target, given his incredible efforts so far this season.

Gimenez has impressively scored 24 goals – while also providing seven assists – in 40 appearances across all competitions this season.

Boost for Arsenal

If Spurs really have decided against a move for Gimenez, Arsenal will take notice.

A story from Vamos Cruz Azul claims that the Gunners are keen to sign the Mexican amid doubts over the future of Gabriel Jesus at the Emirates Stadium.

Therefore, Arsenal could now have a free run at signing Gimenez, without having to worry about competition from their north London rivals.
