A member of the US House of Representatives, controversial Republican Marjorie Taylor Green, is going to initiate a vote on the resignation of Speaker Mike Johnson next week, according to The Hill.

Radical Republican Greene aims to activate her motion for Johnson's resignation next week, which she introduced to the House of Representatives a month ago. After this, the lower chamber of Congress will have to consider it within two days.

"Once he (Johnson) became Speaker, he has become a man that none of us recognize,” Greene said.

“We’re not going to have a House majority if we keep Mike Johnson,” she added.

At the same time, Republican Thomas Massie, a supporter of Green's proposal, admits that such a vote is likely to fail.

Johnson has been sharply criticized by radical Republicans. In particular, they do not support the consideration of a bill with funding to help Ukraine initiated by the speaker.

Democrats' reaction

A few days ago, Democrat Jared Moskowitz emphasized that his party would not support Green's initiative.

According to him, if Green's initiative is passed, it will allow her to remove any Speaker.
