The President of Ukraine should fulfill his functions until the end of the war, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated.

“There are a lot of manipulations on this issue (the legitimacy of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after May 20, 2024), but I think they are dangerous when the country is at war. Because the President, as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, makes decisions and bears responsibility for managing the state and its defense. Therefore, in my opinion, he should fulfill these functions until the end of the war. But I am not a lawyer. This is my opinion,” said Vitali Klitschko.

The Kyiv Mayor also expressed skepticism about the possibility of holding democratic elections during the war.

"How do you imagine holding democratic elections across the entire territory of Ukraine during a war?" emphasized Vitali Klitschko.
