'He's not the same': Micah Richards claims £70m player has got so much worse since joining Man United

Micah Richards has delivered his verdict on one Manchester United player’s performances since he joined the club.

The Red Devils have had a really underwhelming campaign, haven’t they?

After leading United to a third-place finish last season, fans expected Erik ten Hag to improve his side further, but this season has been a disappointment.

Manchester United will miss out on Champions League football next season, and if they aren’t careful in their remaining games, they could even drop out of the top six.

That would be a huge blow, and Richards believes there are serious internal and external problems at Manchester United right now.

He gave examples of three players to prove his point.

Micah Richards delivers verdict on Casemiro and two other players’ careers at Manchester United

Manchester United have seen success since Sir Alex Ferguson‘s departure, but they just haven’t been the same force that they once were.

The Red Devils have made several mistakes on and off the pitch, and that is the reason why they haven’t won a single league title in over a decade.

Manchester United have spent big money on players over the years, but very few have been real success stories at Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba didn’t fulfil his potential at the club, while Bruno Fernandes, whose numbers are world-class, just seems frustrated all the time.

Another player who just hasn’t lived up to expectations is Casemiro. The Brazilian joined the Red Devils for a mammoth £70 million from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 (BBC).

Casemiro has shown flashes of his brilliance, but Micah Richards feels he just hasn’t been the same player he was at Real Madrid – he’s considerably worse now.

While discussing Jadon Sancho‘s future, Richards discussed how big players have gone to Manchester United and failed because of the problems at the club.

He said on CBS Sports: “Look at how many great players Man United have had over the years.

“Pogba went there. When he was at Juventus, I played against him, he was one of the best players in the world. He goes to Man United, it doesn’t work out for him.

“Fernandes is being slaughtered in the media at times, he’s performing now in a team where he’s frustrated.

“Casemiro goes there from Real Madrid, he’s not the same Casemiro. They’ve got internal and external problems at Man United.”

Two clubs want to sign Casemiro this summer

There will be some big changes at Manchester United this summer following Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s arrival.

INEOS will try to strengthen the squad, but before they do that, they may have to get rid of some of their own players in the coming months.

One of them could be Casemiro, who is currently Manchester United’s highest-paid player, earning an eye-watering £350,000-a-week (Spotrac).

The Brazilian is not getting any younger, and if a good offer arrives, we won’t be surprised at all if Manchester United decide to sell him.

Reports in Turkey have claimed that Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are both interested in signing Casemiro this summer.

Whether the 32-year-old would accept that move, however, remains to be seen.
