Report: Wolves set for talks with agent of £80k-a-week Nuno flop, he now has two destinations in mind

Wolves are expected to have a busy summer in the transfer window, with the future of Fabio Silva set to be decided ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

After the lows of last summer in the transfer window, Gary O’Neil will be hopeful that Fosun can offer him financial support in a bid to bolster his Wolves squad.

While the Old Gold have navigated their way through the 2023/24 calendar well, recent weeks have shown how detrimental the lack of depth in the squad can be, with all eyes on the summer to replenish the side that is dangerously low on numbers.

Despite most of the focus being on the incomings at Molineux, there is expected to be a number of exits, with Fabio Silva’s time in the Midlands surely close to coming to an end.

The Portuguese forward will return to his parent club in the summer due to a failed loan spell at Rangers, with reports now giving an insight into the 21-year-old’s plans.

Agent of Fabio Silva set to discuss future plans with Wolves

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Scottish Premiership giants will not sign Silva on a permanent basis after failing to impose himself since his January arrival at Ibrox.

The striker has scored twice in 14 appearances in the league for Rangers, missing five big chances in that time to see his time in Scotland become a period to forget.

Following on from the news of Rangers’ decision to opt out of keeping the Wolves loanee, a report courtesy of TuttoMercatoWeb suggests that the forward’s agent is preparing for talks with the Midlands club over his future.

It’s claimed that talks between the Old Gold and Carlos Oliveira will happen in the ‘next few weeks’, with the aim to better ‘understand’ his client’s future with the Premier League side.

Another interesting narrative in the report details the prospect of former admirers Genoa and Monza testing the water to sign the 21-year-old, with both clubs listed to have had interest in Silva last summer.

It’s not certain whether the Italian duo will eye the outcast striker again however, it does pose an encouraging scenario for Wolves if they were to offload him.

Wolves must look to sell Fabio Silva this summer

Sporting a contract worth £80k-a-week at Wolves, it’s integral that the Old Gold find a new home for Silva in the summer with his future looking to be far from Molineux.

O’Neil handed the Portuguese talent the chance to impress earlier this term, seeing him fail to score in eight Premier League appearances, leading to him being offloaded to Rangers in January.

It hasn’t worked at Wolves and it hasn’t worked at Rangers, leaving the Midlands club in an unfavourable position as they look poised to sell the youngster for a fraction of the price they paid to acquire him.

In 2020, Nuno Santo broke Wolves’ record transfer fee to bring 18-year-old Silva to the club, paying an eye-watering £35.6m for the Porto sensation, a price that the club will now be lucky to receive even 50% of for his sale.

Still, not spending £4.1m-a-year on the striker’s wages will be a relief for Wolves but first, the club must seek a side willing to sign him in what has been a dull audition to senior football for the youngster.
