Former President Donald Trump suggested a link between his criminal trial and the nationwide campus protests over Israel's war in Gaza.

Students at numerous universities across the country, including Columbia University and UCLA, have resulted in police crackdowns and mass arrests, and the former president lamented his own fate in the New York hush money trial and then suggested in a follow-up post that the case and the demonstrations were part of a "radical left" plot.

"We cannot let this radical left, corrupt and highly conflicted New York Democrat judge interfere with the presidential election of 2024 – the most important election in the history of our country," Trump posted on Truth Social. "The USA is truly a nation in decline! Remove the unconstitutional gag order!"

Justice Juan Merchan has found the former president in contempt of court and fined him $9,000 for repeatedly commenting on witnesses in the case, which the gag order forbids him to do, and Trump next lashed out at president Joe Biden and California Gov. Gavin Newsom for allowing the protests to continue.

"This is a radical left revolution taking place in our country," Trump posted. "Where is Crooked Joe Biden? Where is Governor Newscum? The danger to our country is from the left, not the right!!!"
