Gifting experts at Unifury analyzed the monthly Google searches for 487 search terms related to Mother’s Day, including terms like “Mother’s Day,” “Mother’s Day flowers” and “Mother’s Day gifts”.

They found that California is the state most likely to spoil their moms this Mother’s Day, with 12,618 peak monthly searches per 100,000 residents.

This is a huge 24.1% above the national average, which is 10,168 peak monthly searches related to Mother’s Day per 100,000 residents.

The most searched keyword in California was “Mother’s Day”, with 1,500,000 monthly searches, followed by “Happy Mother’s Day” at 823,000.

Mother’s Day flowers and new moms

California may have topped the list overall, but it’s people in a different state who are looking to treat their moms with flowers this year.

Those in New York are searching for “Mother’s Day Flowers” the most, followed by Maryland and Virginia.

California didn’t come until number six, hinting that people in the state are more likely to buy gifts than florals.

Interestingly, the state searching for “best gifts for new moms” the most was Massachusetts, followed by New York and Colorado.
