US Wheelchair Rugby National Championship

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. \- The National Wheelchair Rugby Association (USWRA), Wounded Warriors Abilities Ranch (WWAR), and Pasco County Tourism are excited to host the US Wheelchair Rugby National Championship from 3rd - 5th May 2024 at the state-of-the-art Wiregrass Arena,3021 Sports Coast Way, Wesley Chapel, FL

The top 18 ranked wheelchair rugby teams from each Division (I, II, III) will compete in this world-class national tournament, with over 150 players competing for the coveted national title during the three-day event.

Athletes will arrive at Tampa International Airport (TPA) on Wednesday, May 1st, and Thursday, May 2nd. They will be welcomed by volunteers from WWAR before being transported to Pasco area hotels by accessible transportation coordinated by Transdev with support from PSTA.

This event is open to the public to come out and support the athletes. Enjoy the tournament throughout the weekend; there is no cost to spectate.

On Saturday, May 4th, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., there will be Food trucks and FREE community and family activities, including music, a fire truck, face painting, balloon art, and South Eastern Guide Dogs. There will also be plenty of high-action wheelchair rugby and an opportunity to meet the players and teams.

Many players who represent the USA on the US National Wheelchair Rugby team will be present, and the tournament will give you an opportunity to watch them compete.

Opening ceremonies start at 9:30 a.m. Friday, 3rd May, with the first game beginning at 10 a.m. Games continue throughout the weekend, with the last game played at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Awards will follow, featuring the athletes and tournament directors.

WWAR and Pasco Tourism put together an impressive 2-year bid and are committed to elevating the region to be the country's premier location for Adaptive Sports.

This tournament is supported by the First Nation Group, Raymond James Valor Network, Mike and Betsy Bell Foundation, Tampa General Hospital, First American Title Insurance, NMEDA, and many more organizations that support adaptive sports.
