Club ready to sell 24-year-old Tottenham target who Ange Postecoglou loves for £50m

Tottenham Hotspur have now been told that one of their summer targets will now be available to be bought over the coming months.

Only five games remain until Tottenham‘s first season under Ange Postecoglou comes to an end.

Positive work has been done at Hotspur Way which has seen the north London club show improvement on the football which was on display last season.

And the summer will provide Daniel Levy with an opportunity to offer Postecoglou with another opportunity to put his stamp on this squad.

There are a number of positions which Tottenham will be looking to add players to over the summer as they look to qualify for Europa League football.

An increase to the number of games being played next season will see a need for stronger squad depth.

And there is one player who Postecoglou is said to be seriously keen on ahead of the summer who is now looking likely to be sold over the coming months.

Tottenham target is now expected to move on this summer

Midfield is an area which Postecoglou will need to resolve this summer as he continues to struggle to nail down the three starting players.

Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur, Pape Matar Sarr and James Maddison have all struggled to lay down any kind of consistently good form recently.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg looks set to leave over the summer with just one year remaining on his contract.

A need for a number six has become evident over recent weeks with the Tottenham backline being exposed by the lack of midfield protection.

One player who has caught the eye of the Australian manager, in particular, is said to be the Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

It has even been claimed that Postecoglou has had the 24-year-old on his list of targets since the day he arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Now, according the Standard, Chelsea are ready to sell the midfielder this summer for a fee in the region of £50m.

The England international will have just one-year remaining on his deal at his boyhood club this summer and the two parties remain at an impasse over a potential new deal.

What Conor Gallagher has previously said about his Chelsea future

Having come through the ranks at Cobham, Gallagher has gone on to captain the Blues regularly and has been one of the few Chelsea players to impress this season.

Playing in a range of roles across the midfield, Gallagher has returned Chelsea with six goals and eight assists over all competitions.

The midfielder has demonstrated a versatility which would surely be a huge positive for Postecoglou with Spurs requiring a number of areas resolved over the summer.

However, having grown up in the Chelsea system, the midfielder did admit earlier this season that he’d hope to see the contract situation resolved.

“I’m sure that will get sorted out, everyone knows Chelsea is my club and I love playing for them,” he told The Telegraph.
