Club now announce 'excellent' manager has left after links to West Ham

One manager has now left his club after links to West Ham – making him available to take the reins in east London.

David Moyes is widely expected to depart the London Stadium when his contract expires this summer, after a patchy run of form in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign.

The likes of Ruben Amorim and Julen Lopetegui have been mentioned as potential replacements for the Glaswegian.

There is, however, also an Englishman being linked with the West Ham job – and he is now guaranteed to be available this summer…

Will Still leaves Stade de Reims after West Ham links

Well – according to the Daily Mail – West Ham have sat up and taken notice of Will Still thanks to his superb efforts in charge of Stade de Reims.

The 31-year-old remarkably began his career at Stade de Reims by embarking on a run of 17 games without defeat, setting a new record in Ligue 1.

In doing so, Still became just the second manager in the 21st century to go 17 matches unbeaten in a major European league, after Tito Vilanova achieved 18 games without a loss at Barcelona in the 2012/13 campaign.

Therefore, West Ham’s interest should come as no surprise – and Stade de Reims have now announced that the man who decided to pursue a career in coaching thanks to the Football Manager game will depart with immediate effect.

An official statement read: “Stade de Reims would like to thank Will and Nicolas Still for their investment and all these beautiful emotions experienced together. At the heart of a unique club project, known and recognised for its ability to reveal all talents, we are proud to have been able to contribute to the emergence of a coach who knew how to impose his convictions and his playing identity.

“Will was one of the actors in the new cycle initiated in 2018, and has undoubtedly enabled the SDR to take another step forward, particularly in the context of the internationalisation of the locker room. Will, Nico, the big Red and White family thanks you and wishes you the best for the rest of your careers.”

Still departs Stade de Reims with the French side sat 11th in Ligue 1.

Not only do West Ham admire Still, but Still – who was called an “excellent” coach by Fabrizio Romano – admires West Ham.

The man born in Braine-l’Alleud is actually a West Ham fan, adding fuel to the fire.

Therefore, if the Irons do decide to approach Still this summer, we highly doubt he’ll turn down the chance to managed his beloved Hammers.
