The United States believes that the end of Russia's war against Ukraine is unlikely in the near future, according to Director of National Intelligence of the United States Avril Haines.

She emphasized that Vladimir Putin's more aggressive tactics, which include strikes on energy infrastructure, are intended to show Ukraine that further resistance will only lead to more damage.

"These aggressive tactics are likely to continue and the war is unlikely to end anytime soon," Haines said.

Predictions on the end of the war

In the West and in Ukraine, there have been multiple attempts to predict when the war with Russia will end.

In particular, at the end of 2023, the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said that Russia had no plans to wage war in 2025.

At the same time, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană disagreed with this opinion and suggested that the war in Ukraine might not end even in 2025.
