'Remember this update': Romano says Newcastle now want another 'outstanding' free transfer alongside Adarabioyo

Newcastle United are likely to bolster their ranks in the summer after failing to hit the heights of 2022/23 this season.

However, the Magpies will also need to be mindful of remaining compliant with profit and sustainability regulations.

With that in mind, Newcastle are expected to look at the free transfer market to help strengthen their squad.

The Magpies could yet qualify for Europe this season, so they’ll need to make sure they have the strength in depth to compete on four fronts.

Over the past couple of days, speculation emerged suggesting Newcastle are closing in on Fulham ace Tosin Adarabioyo.

However, he’s not the only Premier League ace with an expiring contract that the Magpies are targeting, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer insider, taking to YouTube on Wednesday, urged Newcastle fans to “remember” that the Magpies are also in pursuit of Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Newcastle and Lloyd Kelly?

Romano said: “Remember this update. Kelly from Bournemouth is one of the players that Newcastle are absolutely considering for the summer transfer window.”

The transfer insider also sought to play down suggestions that Adarabioyo to Newcastle was almost a done deal, saying the race is still open.

Newcastle certainly seem to be on the right track with regards to both players. Let’s hope they can land both in the coming months.

Lloyd Kelly would be a great signing for Newcastle

Kelly has been superb for the Cherries since his £13million move from Bristol City in the summer of 2019.

Several years ago, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe – then at Bournemouth – said Kelly was an “outstanding” footballer who has “everything he needs to be a top, top player“.

Kelly is also seriously rapid. As per Squawka, he was one of the fastest centre-backs in the Premier League last term, clocking up a top speed of 35.42km/h.

All in all, he looks like a superb player that would do well at Newcastle. And the fact they could get him for free is a huge added bonus, because he’d certainly be worth a decent seven-figure outlay.
