'Definitely': Daniel Farke confirms three Leeds United players will miss the Southampton game on Saturday

Daniel Farke has shared an injury update on a number of first team players ahead of Leeds United’s clash with Southampton on Saturday.

Farke has already confirmed a late decision will have to be made on the fitness of Patrick Bamford, but he was just one of five players who were missing at Queens Park Rangers last week.

The Whites were beaten 4-0 in the capital that night which means heading into the final day, their automatic promotion hopes are all but over.

In order to finish in the top two, Leeds will need to beat Southampton and hope Ipswich Town are beaten at home by a Huddersfield Town side who are practically relegated.

With the play-offs now increasingly likely,Farke may be tempted to make some changes to his starting XI, though Ben Parker says he simply cannot risk rotating too much.

Farke shares update on Stuart Dallas, Pascal Struijk, Dan James and Connor Roberts

As well as Bamford, Pascal Struijk, Dan James, Connor Roberts and Stuart Dallas were all missing for Leeds in their most recent outing.

Dallas, who has confirmed he will be retiring at the end of the season, and Struijk, of course, have both already been ruled out for the season.

Roberts, meanwhile, suffered a recurrence of the injury he picked up on international duty with Wales against Blackburn Rovers, which has seen him miss the last two. James was missing at QPR after his injury at Middlesbrough.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Farke did not have much of a positive update to bring, with Struijk, Dallas and James definitely out, and Roberts certainly not able to start the match.

He said: “Dallas, Struijk, also James will definitely miss the game. Big question behind Roberts, first day today involved in parts of team training, definitely not 90 minutes.”

Predicted Leeds XI to face Southampton

With none of the five injured players likely to be fit enough to start on Saturday, it will be interesting to see what changes Farke will make.

He simply cannot afford to go with the same XI that were dismantled at QPR, but options from the bench are not exactly booming.

Glen Kamara is certainly a possibility to come into midfield, which could see Sam Byram dropped and Archie Gray move to right-back.

Mateo Joseph is also deserving of a start up front ahead of Joel Piroe, given how poor the latter has been whenever he has started lately.
