'My least favourite': Bernardo Silva says there was one season at Man City that he really didn't enjoy

Bernardo Silva has claimed that there was one season at Manchester City that he did not particularly enjoy.

Some might be surprised to hear the £43 million man make such an admission about a certain period at the Etihad Stadium.

After all, the Manchester City midfielder has had a spell to remember during his time in England.

Winning trophies for fun, playing alongside some of the best players in the world, under arguably the greatest manager in history and competing at the highest stages — Bernardo has had a long list of reasons to smile in a City shirt.

Just recently as well, the history books will remember the Portuguese attacker scored the winner in the FA Cup semi-final if Manchester City end up winning the double.

Season after season, the former AS Monaco technician has been a part of what many regard as one of the best teams in history.

Bernardo Silva names his “least favourite” season at Manchester City

Whether it be club football or at the international level.

Such is the standard this City side have played at, with their legacy amongst the best of the best sealed by their treble triumph.

Luckily enough for Bernardo Silva, he has been given the platform to play a huge role in their success —an opportunity several players would have craved over the years.

However, Bernardo has a special place in both English and European footballing folklore.

The 29-year-old must be eternally grateful for the times he has had at City.

But there was one season he least liked at the club.

That was the 2019/2020 campaign, according to Bernardo Silva, as he stated in an interview on the Premier League’s official YouTube channel, “That was my least favourite because it was the only won where we didn’t win the Premier League.”

“We only won the Community Shield and the Carabao Cup so it was the season where we were the least successful.”

“The season I enjoyed the most was obviously last season with the treble.”

The Portuguese midfielder is a serial winner

The fact that Bernardo Silva considers the campaign as his least favourite at Manchester City is understandable.

After all, in all the other seasons, the ex-Benfica magician has won the Premier League.

However, in a campaign where the Sky Blues finished second behind a remarkable Liverpool team and won a Carabao Cup, perhaps several players would have been satisfied.

But Bernardo Silva was evidently not and perhaps the defeat to the Reds in the title race spurred him on to help his team win the league in the following season.

Serial winners like Bernardo do not accept not winning trophies and City are fortunate to have a player with his mentality in their squad.
