An inspiring video of a former CIA officer revealing one ‘spy trick’ that will “improve your life” has gone viral on TikTok.
Andrew Bustamante is a former CIA covert intelligence officer and US Air Force combat veteran who is now an internet personality.
One ‘spy trick’ that will improve your life
“The most important spy trick to change everything immediately is something called perception vs perspective,” he said.
Bustamante explained that your life will instantly improve if you stop living in your own perception and start seeing the world from other people’s perspectives.
The ex-CIA agent revealed that we all look at the world through our own perception, which is your interpretation of the world around you.
“It’s unique only to you,” he added. “There’s no advantage in your perception, that’s why so many people find themselves arguing all the time.”
Bustamante said you will “win” in life by no longer trying to convince others to agree with your perception.
Instead, you should move to perspective, which is the “art of observing the world from outside of yourself”.
This could be by observing the world from a third entity outside of yourself, or even more powerfully, by sitting in the shoes of others.
“Think to yourself, what is their life like? What do they feel right now? Are they comfortable? Are they uncomfortable? Are they afraid? Are they scared?” he said.
Moving to perspective is powerful
Bustamante said that when you get out of your own perception and into someone else’s perspective, you’re thinking like them.
This is giving you an “informational advantage” while everyone else is trapped in their own perception, which is useful not just as a spy, but in general life.
Seeing the world from someone else’s perspective allows you to always be one step ahead, which can be hugely beneficial in life.
The ex-spy said it will help you win any argument, advance in your career and out sell anybody, because you know what others are thinking.
