Report: Liverpool could now sign 'one of the best young players in the Premier League' for just £50m

A new era is set to begin at Liverpool after the season ends, with Jurgen Klopp leaving Anfield and Arne Slot set to take the Reds reins.

In addition, Liverpool and FSG have also made some new additions at boardroom level which will have a significant bearing on the club’s direction.

Michael Edwards is now FSG’s CEO of Football and Richard Hughes is set to become Liverpool’s sporting director this summer.

The upcoming summer transfer window could be a significant one for the Reds as they look to bounce back from an underwhelming season.

And one top talent Liverpool are apparently hoping to sign could potentially move this summer for a relatively low £50million fee, considering how good he is.

The player in question is Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, and ESPN have provided an update on the state of play involving the winger’s suitors.

What has been said about Liverpool and Michael Olise?

Although the report focuses on Manchester United’s interest in Olise, it also touches on Liverpool’s apparent interest in the player, as well as a key advantage they’re set to have.

Sources told ESPN that Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils are currently at the head of the queue to sign the 22-year-old.

However, Liverpool have also been credited with an interest in Olise, particularly if Mohamed Salah departs this summer.

The Reds, plus Arsenal, could offer Champions League football to the player. That said, Man United are apparently not deterred by being unable to offer this next season.

What have pundits said about Liverpool target Michael Olise?

We’ve all seen what Olise can do in the Premier League, and it’s no surprise that pundits have given him huge praise over the years.

For instance, Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison said on Sky Sports in 2022: “This kid’s got it all… he’s a tremendous talent.

“He’s got everything… him going forward, he’s one of the best young players in the Premier League.”

More recently, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy said on BBC Sport: “He is a Champions League player.

“I’m sorry, Palace fans. He will not be there next season. This is an unbelievable talent.

“There are going to be so many clubs after him because he can do the lot. A wonderful, wonderful player.”
