Micah Richards lauds Liverpool transfer target who ‘makes a difference’ like Jude Bellingham

Liverpool are preparing themselves for a new era ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of the season.

It’s going to be an emotional send-off for all because of the immense and memorable job he has done at Anfield.

One of Klopp’s great strengths as Liverpool‘s manager has been the strong transfer recruitment, which the returning Michael Edwards also has to take credit for.

That’s one area the club simply have to get right when Arne Slot takes over next season ahead of his expected arrival.

But with a new chapter starting on Merseyside, just how far will Fenway Sports Group (FSG) back their new manager?

Fans will be hoping that he is allowed to bring in the big-name players and is heavily backed for a Premier League title charge.

One man who is seemingly on the club’s transfer radar is Bayern Munich’s rising star, Jamal Musiala.

The 21-year-old recently contested in a Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid where he was one of the best players on a pitch that also included his childhood friend, Jude Bellingham.

Micah Richards lauded both players and added that Musiala is a ‘joy to watch’, as he told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (30/04/24 at 7:45 pm).

The former right-back also added that Musiala and Bellingham are ‘making a difference’ in the middle of the park.

Jamal Musiala and Jude Bellingham

“Both (Bellingham and Musiala) play in that number ten role, Musiala can sometimes go to that left as well,” said Richards.

“This man Musiala. He is just a joy to watch. The way he gets into them tight little spaces. The way he just dribbles past people and just his all-round enthusiasm is a joy – he is happy to do everything by himself. We talk about that close control, really goes direct and really good feet.

“I want to talk about Bellingham as well, but someone of 20 years of age, he is so mature. He drives into spaces where midfielders should do. We talk about him playing as a number ten. He can also play a little deeper as well. He can also run in behind when playing as a false nine. We are talking about midfielders making a difference.”

What could have been for Liverpool…

There was a time when Liverpool fans were pushing and praying for Bellingham to join them.

It was the ultimate signing everyone at the club wanted and someone who would have made a seismic change.

Just look at what he is doing at Real Madrid now, probably the greatest club side in the world and he has turned up, scored 21 goals and supplied ten assists in all competitions.

The season isn’t over yet and he will still add to those numbers, including possibly adding a Champions League trophy to his soon-to-be-crowned La Liga title.
