Russia's losses in Ukraine as of May 3: 1270 troops and 58 artillery systems

Russia's losses in the war in Ukraine as of Friday morning, May 3, amount to 1,270 Russian troops, bringing the total number of Russian army losses since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine to 472,140. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 58 artillery systems and 42 vehicles, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The total combat Russian losses from 24.02.22 to 03.05.24 are estimated to be:

  • personnel - about 472,140 (+1270) people were killed;
  • tanks - 7354 (+22) units;
  • armored combat vehicles - 14,129 (+33) units;
  • artillery systems - 12,102 (+58) units;
  • MLRS - 1053 units;
  • air defense systems - 786 (+2) units;
  • airplanes - 348 units;
  • helicopters - 325 units;
  • UAVs of operational and tactical level - 9580 (+19) units;
  • cruise missiles - 2126 units;
  • ships/boats - 26 units;
  • submarines - 1 unit;
  • motor vehicles and tankers - 16,266 (+42) units;
  • special equipment - 1993 (+5) units.

Situation at front

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Ukrainian military has recently improved its tactical positions in the area of Serebrianske forestry. Russian troops are advancing in the Avdiivka direction.

In Ukraine, 134 combat engagements took place on the frontline over the last day. Ukrainian defense aviation hit one Russian air defense system.
