Concrete chances’: Fabrizio Romano says ‘superb’ player is likely to be sold after links with Tottenham

Tottenham are likely to be in the market for a new centre-back this summer.

As things stand, Spurs only have three senior centre-backs on their books, and, to be honest, it’s hard to rely on any of them.

Radu Dragusin remains incredibly unproven at this level, Cristian Romero is a walking suspension at the best of times, while Micky Van de Ven’s hamstrings have let him down this season.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of defensive options heading into the summer, and one player that Spurs have been said to be keen on is Marc Guehi.

Writing for The Daily Briefing, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Guehi’s future at Crystal Palace, and he’s stated that there’s a concrete chance the England international is sold this summer.

Marc Guehi likely to be sold

Romano spoke about the defender.

“Some fans have asked me again about Marc Guehi, who was in superb form for Crystal Palace before his injury. The latest reports involve interest from Arsenal and Manchester United, but I can’t confirm these links yet,” Romano wrote.

“Still, Guehi has concrete chances to leave Crystal Palace this summer. I can’t confirm clubs yet, as it’s still really early – the interest is there from several clubs, but it’s nothing really concrete yet.”

Crystal Palace’s difficult summer

Romano says that Guehi is likely to be sold this summer, but Crystal Palace have some big decisions to make here.

Big clubs will be sniffing around Guehi, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise this summer, and Palace, in all honesty, can’t afford to sell all three of these players.

If Guehi goes, expect one of Eze or Olise to stay, but if Olise or Eze head off early in the summer window, don’t be shocked if Palace’s stance on Guehi’s future changes.

Tottenham may need to act quickly if they actually want to sign Guehi this summer.
