'As well': Fabrizio Romano has now shared a worrying update on Newcastle target Tosin Adarabioyo

Newcastle United are trying to sign Tosin Adarabioyo, but a deal will not be straightforward.

The 26-year-old is due to become a free agent this summer, and is one player who Newcastle United have their eye on. The fact that such a talented defender is going to be available on a free transfer is very appealing to the Magpies, who will be looking to get the most out of their summer budget.

There have even been claims that Tosin to Newcastle is likely, with the centre-back offered more than £100,000-a-week to move to the North East and play for Eddie Howe.

Tosin to Newcastle played down despite Toon interest

However, those reports have been played down, with Geordie Boot Boys told that Tosin is still weighing up his options as he ponders his next move. Newcastle are keen, but nothing is imminent.

For all the initial excitement, the buzz surrounding Tosin has now died down. While he is a player that is on Eddie Howe’s radar, a deal is not close to being completed.

In fact, Tosin is still attracting a lot of interest from Newcastle’s Premier League rivals. Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have both been linked with signing him, while transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now provided details on a new club that are in the mix.

Fabrizio Romano shares details on another club wanting Tosin

Romano, who has also stated that Tosin to Newcastle is not a done deal, has stated that another Premier League side are interested in the Fulham star.

According to Romano on X, Chelsea have also been told what it will take to sign Tosin Adarabioyo this summer.

He wrote: “Understand Chelsea as well as Newcastle are among clubs informed on conditions of the deal to sign Tosin Adarabioyo as free agent. Several clubs are asking for conditions of potential free signing, but no formal proposal made. Tosin will take his time to decide his future.”

Europe could be key in Tosin chase

It is worrying to see Chelsea linked with Tosin, as that means another London club are trying to secure his signature. Staying in the capital would mean that he would not have to relocate, which is a factor that could influence his decision.

But so could European qualification. Tosin has not played in Europe since being a teenager at Manchester City, and may see his next move as a chance to get back into a UEFA competition.

That is why it is vital that Newcastle finish the season strongly and come in the top six. Chelsea are one of the clubs they are fighting with, with the Blues now just one point behind after their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The race for Europe is very much on, as is the battle to sign Tosin. The two could go hand in hand, and hopefully it is Newcastle who come out on top in both contests.
