'Head in his hands': Ange Postecoglou was so disappointed after seeing what £45m Tottenham man did last night

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou ‘had his head in his hands’ after what one of his players did against Chelsea last night.

Spurs’ terrible run in the Premier League continued with a dismal defeat at Stamford Bridge.

Trevoh Chalobah opened the scoring through a brilliant header in the first half and Nicolas Jackson doubled Chelsea’s lead after the break to give them a deserved win.

Tottenham have now lost three games on the bounce and have won just two of their last seven. Their Champions League dreams are hanging by a thread.

Postecoglou was frustrated with a number of his players yesterday. One of them made the Spurs boss have his head in his hands late in the game.

Ange Postecoglou had his head in his hands because of Brennan Johnson

Tottenham were nowhere near their best against Chelsea last night.

The North Londoners were dominated for large parts of the first half. They just seemed so negative, and that really frustrated Ange Postecoglou.

The Tottenham boss was seen going ‘absolutely ballistic’ on the likes of Yves Bissouma, Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal for not playing forward.

Spurs looked slightly better in the second half, but Nicolas Jackson’s goal after a Cole Palmer free-kick killed the game for the visitors.

However, Tottenham still had chances.

Just before the second goal, Brennan Johnson found himself in a great position inside the box, but instead of scoring, the Welshman tried a tame cross across the box.

Then, after his side went 2-0 down, Johnson had another big opportunity. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg‘s brilliant cross found him inside the box, but he made a meal of his shot.

Ryan Taylor of The Mirror was at Stamford Bridge last night, and he spotted Postecoglou having his head in his hands after Johnson’s miss.

“Ange Postecoglou puts his head in his hands after Brennan Johnson misses sitter at back post as ‘Tottenham get battered everywhere they go,’ rings out around Stamford Bridge,” the journalist tweeted.

Brennan Johnson’s goal tally is disappointing

Tottenham signed Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest for a fee in excess of £45 million last summer (BBC).

The Welshman is still just 22 years old and has a lot of time to improve.

However, Tottenham paid a lot of money for him, and his numbers in his debut season aren’t great at all.

Johnson has scored just five goals all season. What makes it worse is that he has missed 12 big chances in the Premier League since the start of the campaign (SofaScore).

The 22-year-old is doing a lot of good things on the pitch at Tottenham, but his actions in the final third need to improve if he’s to be deemed as a good signing.
