‘Another level’: Chris Sutton says Arsenal have a player who’s been better than Phil Foden this season

The Premier League season is almost over, and it’s nearly time to start crowning the winners of the individual awards.

Player of the Year is the most coveted individual award in the Premier League, and it’s tough to call a winner this year.

Phil Foden has just been announced as the FWA award winner, but the PFA award is still up for grabs.

Speaking on It’s All Kicking Off, Chris Sutton has been discussing who he believes to have been the best players in the Premier League this season, and he chose an Arsenal star as his Player of the Year over Foden.

The Arsenal player who’s been better than Phil Foden

Sutton spoke about Declan Rice, claiming that the midfielder has been better than Foden this season.

“In order I’d have Declan Rice at the top of my list, Foden at number two. Rice has taken Arsenal to another level. I should’ve had Odegaard in, is it bad that I’ve forgotten about Odegaard?” Sutton said.

Declan Rice and Phil Foden have been brilliant

Both of these players have been brilliant for their respective clubs in very different ways.

Rice has been crucial at Arsenal in terms of how he’s screened the defence and driven the team forward from deep, while Foden has been more decisive in terms of creating and scoring goals.

In our view, Foden has to get the nod over Rice due to the way he has been more impactful in the final third, but, in all honesty, the winner of the Player of the Year award may be decided by who ultimately wins the Premier League title this season.

Arsenal and Manchester City are still in the mix, and if Arsenal can clinch the title, Rice may well end up winning Player of the Year.
