Report: Leeds tell Liverpool to spend more than they did on Sadio Mane to sign 'exceptional' player

Liverpool are reportedly interested in raiding Leeds United for one of Elland Road’s key players ahead of the summer window and The Whites are said to have set an asking price.

There could be a handful of Leeds players in the current side that may wish to leave Yorkshire in the summer if Daniel Farke cannot deliver an instant return back to the top flight, with the play-offs likely.

Leeds sit in third place and need to beat Southampton and hope Huddersfield manage to defeat Ipswich away from home. An unlikely scenario and one that is set to leave Leeds in the play-offs, in third place.

Failure to win at Wembley on May 26 could mean a number of players depart. The likes of Willy Gnonto, Georginio Rutter, Illan Meslier have all generated interest and could be tempted to leave if not promoted.

Another is the Championship Player of the Season in the form of Crysencio Summerville. It comes as no surprise that the 22-year-old has admirers after the “exceptional” ace has scored 20 goals, 10 assists.

Liverpool are one of those clubs looking at Summerville with incoming manager Arne Slot said to be a big fan of the attacker. Now, The Express report how much Liverpool will have to spend to sign Summerville.

How much Liverpool must pay to sign Crysencio Summerville

Liverpool have a plethora of attacking talent in the final third but a shake-up of options is expected in the coming months. Luis Diaz has interest from PSG and Mo Salah is more than expected to depart Liverpool.

Cody Gakpo, who once almost moved to Elland Road before his move to Liverpool, has struggled to show his best form in a Liverpool shirt. So there is room for a player like Summerville to go and shine at Anfield.

A report from The Express says that Liverpool will have to pay more than the £30m fee they paid to sign Sadio Mane from Southampton to land Summerville in the summer, but promotion may determine a fee.

What Stephen Warnock has said about Summerville’s future

Aston Villa are also in the market for Summerville, as two of Stephen Warnock’s old sides do battle for the winger. He thinks that if Leeds are promoted then Summerville will end up staying at Leeds this summer.

But Warnock also said that if a club like Unai Emery’s Villa come in for Summerville then he will be surely tempted by a move to the Midlands. Similarly, it is easy to imagine a move to Liverpool may be the same.

For now, Summerville’s focus will be on helping Leeds get promoted – whether that is in second on the weekend or via the play-offs. But failure to do so, you imagine Summerville will be tempted to leave.
