Princess Anne 'would be fantastic on Strictly' claims Lady C - 'She is athletic and nimble'

Royal expert Lady C has described Princess Anne as "athletic and nimble" following reports that the King's sister could appear on the BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing.

Professional dancer Nadiya Bychkova said the Princess Royal told her last month that she would like to appear in the popular TV dance competition.

Speaking about Princess Anne's love of dance, Lady C told GBN America: "I think Princess Anne would actually be wonderful on Strictly because she's very athletic, very agile and very nimble.

"I'm not sure it would be the right thing for the image of the monarchy to have her [on the show].

"I think it would be a little bit too populist stick in my view. But you know, I could be proven wrong very easily if she did it. I'm sure she would be a howling success."

Lady Colin Campbell added: "I think if she entered, she would most likely win. Unless she were an absolutely hopeless dancer because she would have such a groundswell of support and such goodwill.

"I'm pretty sure she would win because I know she's actually a rather good dancer.

"One of my greatest friends and Anne both had the same interest in a man about 50 years ago and were dancing in Scotland and Princess Anne took the opportunity to kick my friend in her shoes."

This left GBN America host Nana Akua gobsmacked as she said that sounds "more like something Meghan Markle would do."

Queen Camilla said she was “one of Strictly’s greatest fans” after pro-dancer Johannes Radebe presented her with a pair of steel-shod shoes at an event in February.

The late Queen Elizabeth II was also a fan, as is Princess Kate.

Queen Camilla once even offered to host an episode of the programme at Buckingham Palace.

Speaking on the Royal Family’s love for Strictly, Bychkova continued to tell The Sun: “They love it, and they watch it all the time.

“Whenever you see royals at events, they all know what’s going on.”

Bychkova, 34, who was born in Soviet Ukraine, added: “I’m not from this country so I don’t know all the royal etiquette.

"You learn through situations, and I just try to be (as) respectful as I can when I meet the royals.

“It just blows your mind to think how big this show is.”
