The Russian military is constantly trying to regain its position in the south, according to Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine.

"The situation remains stable. There are constant Russian attempts to restore the situation, and assaults are constantly taking place. Yesterday there were 11 attacks," he says.

According to him, Russians are mostly storming the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions.

"The Russians are not satisfied with Krynky, they hope to drive our marines out of there, but these attempts are in vain. Usually, there are several assaults per day, today there were three of them. They were also unsuccessful, but the enemy did not give up these attempts. The situation is the same in Robotyne," notes Pletenchuk.

He adds that the Russian invaders are trying to regain control of Nestryha Island under the cover of artillery and drones, but they are forced to move in small groups.

"They have a big obstacle, its Dnipro river, and to overcome it they have to use boats, but at the moment they are in the open, so it is quite difficult for them and they suffer losses," Pletenchuk notes.

Nestryha Island liberation

On April 28, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi announced that Ukrainian defenders had managed to regain control of Nestryha Island in the Kherson region. This happened after their advance near the village of Veletenske in the Kherson region.

Earlier, Russian saboteurs entered the territory of Nestryga Island and, in particular, set up mortars to fire on the settlements of the Kherson region.
