‘Far better’: Pundit says Mikel Arteta has completely transformed £50m player at Arsenal

The sign of any great coach is the ability to improve a player.

The likes of Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and even Marcelo Bielsa have all had that uncanny knack of making players who work with them that much better.

Mikel Arteta is a manager who is hoping to be considered among the best of the best in the coming years, and he’s well on his way.

Indeed, the Spaniard has done a fantastic job at Arsenal, cultivating a positive atmosphere and playing great football, while he’s also improved a number of his players.

Speaking on The Game Football Podcast, Tony Cascarino has been discussing the job Arteta has done at Arsenal, and he’s noted one player who he believes has seriously improved under the Spaniard’s tutelage.

Ben White has improved under Mikel Arteta

Cascarino spoke about how Mikel Arteta has improved his players, highlighting Ben White as a player he believes has transformed.

“It goes back to my point about Man United and Sancho and players not improving. You’re seeing at Arsenal that players are improving. I think Ben White is a far better player than he was when he first signed for Arsenal and I think Saliba has improved,” Cascarino said.

Ben White has transformed at Arsenal

Not only has Ben White improved at Arsenal, he’s completely changed as a player.

At Brighton, White was a ball-playing centre-back in a back three, but, at Arsenal, he’s a marauding right-back who’s just as useful going forward as he is at the back.

Arteta hasn’t just made White into a better player, he’s made him into a different player altogether.

The England international has undoubtedly been one of the best right-backs in the Premier League this season, and Arteta deserves a lot of credit for the work he has done with White.
