Celtic star Matt O'Riley shows his true class in the local Glasgow community

Celtic hero Matt O’Riley has shown he can give back to the local community by volunteering with the Glasgow Children’s Hospital.

O’Riley has been a stand-out in the Celtic team this season, scoring 14 goals and assisting 16 times, but his class is not only evident on the field.

Recently, he’s been a ‘Gaming Volunteer’ with the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, visiting kids on the wards and bringing families together.

The charity explained: “You may recognise our first-ever hospital Gaming Volunteer: football star Matt O’Riley. At the weekend, he plays for Celtic FC in front of 60,000 fans, and he likes to unwind after matches by playing video games.

“Recently, Matt joined our team of incredible volunteers at the children’s hospital. He’s formed genuine connections with families, playing a small part in their journey by sharing the magic of gaming.”

The midfielder said: “The chance to spend time with some of these kids and their families is a real privilege and being able to bring a smile to their faces with the help of gaming is truly amazing. I would encourage anyone out there looking to bring some joy to the world to give this a try.”

The charity say their Gaming Volunteer programme is open to keen gamers who would like to make a positive impact on the lives of young patients in hospital, with just a three-hour commitment required per week.

Superb stuff from Celtic’s latest midfield wizard

O’Riley has a lot of hype around him right now. There’s talk of big money and big moves. It could easily go to his head.

We know the midfielder a bit better than that though. He’s a great guy and has often presented himself as a grounded and humble individual. This is strong evidence of that.

It’s fantastic to see him contribute to positively impact the lives of people in Glasgow and Scotland. We’re lucky to have him as a representative of Celtic.
