You’ve been wearing skincare face masks wrong but luckily there’s an easy fix

Whether you call them a sheet mask or facemask, you’ve likely been wearing the skincare staple wrong this entire time, a makeup influencer revealed.

Facemasks are a staple skincare item in the cupboards of many beauty-obsessed Americans. While they aren’t a miracle product that will leave you as youthful as ever, they work brilliantly at targeting specific issues like inflammation, dehydrated skin, and visible pores.

Why you’ve been wearing your skincare facemask wrong

It’s clear that the American public is fond of a facemask as 83% admit to regularly employing them in their weekly skincare routines. That being said, it’s also likely they are using them wrong.

Taking to her flourishing TikTok account, Romina (@rominagafur) shocked her followers with the skincare revelation of the century. While most people would simply open the sheet mask and lay it over their face, Romina shared a top tip that is sure to shake up your beauty routine.

All you need to correctly wear the mask is a small pair of scissors, like the ones you would use on your nails. Romina suggested taking these scissors and snipping the mask between your eyes, allowing it to sit more closely to your skin.

Next, the influencer cut just above her lips and then below, which again allows the facemask to hug the area tightly.

“Now it should fit you perfectly,” she told her 21 million followers as she flaunted her creasless sheet mask.

If you’ve followed the steps correctly, then you should be left with a facemask that actually hugs your skin, pushing through those vital ingredients. Bye Bye, sheet mask creases!

Not everyone was prepared to snip their mask

It’s not immediately clear why facemasks require so much scissor work, but it could be assumed that skincare companies design them that way to fit an array of faces. Still, not all of Romina’s followers took the news well.

“I don’t have time for that,” one person argued, to which another agreed, “Too much time wasted just don’t use them used mud masks.”

Someone else said: “Girly I put on my facemask after showering, and I feel damn so tired and I’m not gonna be taking forever to just put it on.”
