Gabriel Jesus says £15.5m Arsenal player is his toughest opponent in training every day

Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus has revealed who always makes his life difficult in training sessions.

The Brazilian hasn’t had a great season, has he?

Injuries have really affected Jesus, who has had to spend three different spells on the sidelines. The former Manchester City man has fallen down the pecking order as a result.

However, Jesus still gives his all in training every single day. He is one of the hardest workers at the club and when he’s in full flow, he’s really difficult to stop.

Now, the Brazil international has revealed who his toughest opponent is in training.

Gabriel Jesus shares what it’s like facing Takehiro Tomiyasu in Arsenal training

Arsenal signed Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna in the summer of 2021 for £15.5 million.

The Japan international, in our opinion, is one of the most underrated defenders in the entire Premier League. He just doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Tomiyasu can play anywhere across the backline and also in defensive midfield.

He has the ability to play as an inverted full-back as well as an overlapping one, and what makes him even more valuable is the fact that he is strong on both feet.

Tomiyasu is a phenomenal player when he’s fully fit, and he has already produced some really good performances in an Arsenal shirt over the last two years.

Now, Gabriel Jesus has paid him a huge compliment by naming him as his toughest opponent at Arsenal along with Gabriel Magalhaes.

The Arsenal number nine told the club’s official website: “Gabriel, or maybe Tomiyasu. Neither of them give you a moment’s peace!”

Takehiro Tomiyasu’s game time could drastically reduce next season

Takehiro Tomiyasu has played 27 times for Arsenal this season, including starts in each of our last two games against Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea.

The Japan international almost always does a decent job, but we think his game time will take a hit as soon as next season starts.

That’s because Ben White will retain his place as the first-choice right-back and we expect Jurrien Timber to become Mikel Arteta‘s preferred left-back next season.

That would mean Tomiyasu will not start a lot of games, especially in the Premier League and the Champions League, which will surely be difficult for him.

However, for Arteta, the Japan international will remain a valuable option to bring on.
