MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — Hope Hick's testimony came to a dramatic halt Friday afternoon after former President Donald Trump's onetime spokeswoman burst into tears on the witness stand.

The Manhattan District Attorney's office had just wrapped questioning of Hicks and Trump attorney Emil Bove was preparing to begin his cross examination when Hicks suddenly turned her face away.

Judge Juan Merchan asked Hicks if she needed a break and she nodded as she pulled out a handkerchief and dabbed her eyes.

Merchan paused proceedings and video footage from the trial room, playing in an overflow room in the courthouse, came to an abrupt pause.

Audio continued to play of Hicks crying for a moment, only to be replaced by the murmuring of the spectators and the sounds of reporters filing to their desks.

When the video turned on again minutes later, Hicks had disappeared from the witness box.
