Report: Tottenham want to get rid of £25m player who got targeted by Chelsea this week

There could be a lot of outgoings at Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Ange Postecoglou is trying to build a really competitive squad at Spurs, and to achieve great things at the club, he needs to bring in a few top-quality players.

The Australian began his revolution last summer by signing the likes of Micky van de Ven, Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison. They’ve all contributed really well at different stages of the campaign.

Now, with another transfer window coming up, we’re sure Postecoglou will want to add more quality to his Tottenham side.

However, before he does that, he may have to free up some room in his squad by selling a few players who are just not up to the mark.

Here’s an update on one of them…

Tottenham make decision on Emerson Royal and his Spurs teammate

Tottenham have a few players in their squad who need to be moved on.

Ange Postecoglou has a good first eleven when everyone is fit and available, but the options he has on the bench aren’t quite up to the level he would like.

Among the players who have no future at the club is Emerson Royal.

The Brazilian joined Spurs from Barcelona in the summer of 2021 for a free of £25 million (BBC). There was a lot of hype at the time, but he has been a poor signing.

Don’t get us wrong, Emerson has produced a few very good performances in a Tottenham shirt, but is he good enough to be a regular under Postecoglou?

The answer is no.

The Telegraph reveal this week that Tottenham want to cash in on Emerson in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The full-back, however, is not the only one. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is also set to be shown the door.

It will be interesting to see how much money Tottenham will be able to make by selling these two players. We can’t imagine they’d make a profit on Emerson.

Emerson Royal got targeted by Chelsea

Tottenham’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League have been dealt a huge blow.

The North Londoners have lost three games on the bounce in the Premier League and have won just two of their last seven.

That has pushed them seven points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s side are the favourites to get into the Champions League now, even though Spurs have a game in hand over them.

Tottenham’s last defeat came at the hands of their old boss, Mauricio Pochettino, at Chelsea.

Emerson Royal started at left-back in that game, and he had a night to forget after being targeted by Blues stars Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer on his side of the pitch.

“It’s been a tough night for Emerson Royal,” Gary Neville said while watching Emerson. “He’s had Madueke and Cole Palmer ganging up on him.”
