Erling Haaland surpassed David Silva in one area during Man City's 5-1 thrashing of Wolves yesterday

Erling Haaland surpassed David Silva in one respect as Manchester City demolished Wolves on Saturday.

Alan Shearer was proven right about the Norwegian’s goal against Nottingham Forest doing him a world of good as he went on to score four against Gary O’Neil’s side.

What was most impressive was how clinical Haaland was, with Sofascore claiming that he scored four goals from his seven shots on target.

Often, strikers tend to take several shots in a game and yet, scoring four goals is a rarity for even some of the best of the best.

But City’s number nine showcased against Wolves why he is truly cut from a different cloth.

The 23-year-old also showcased he can score every type of goal.

Haaland surpasses David Silva in one area as City beat Wolves

Erling Haaland opened the scoring for the Sky Blues with a confidently-taken penalty and sent Jose Sa the wrong way.

However, Haaland’s second goal was perhaps a sign that he has been working on his heading, as he leapt like a salmon before powering the ball into the bottom corner.

The former Borussia Dortmund hitman’s third goal of the contest was yet another spot-kick.

This time around, Jose Sa dove the right way.

But the ball was struck right into the bottom corner.

The Leeds-born frontman saved his best for last, getting on the end of a lovely pass from Phil Foden before taking a few touches before slotting the ball into the back of the net from outside the box.

With that goal, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland completed 61 goals in his Premier League career as his side defeated Wolves, one more than David Silva (60), as per BBC Sport on X.

Yet another outrageous Haaland statistic

David Silva, who was seated at the Etihad Stadium watching Manchester City dismantle Wolves must have been delighted to witness Erling Haaland showcase his class.

The Spaniard was not much of a goalscorer but even so, he spent a decade at the club.

For Erling Haaland to have outscored David Silva in the Premier League is staggering and it was poetic for the latter to have witnessed the former do so in front of him as his former Manchester City side tore Wolves to shreds.

Haaland is shattering records for fun and if he stays long enough at City, Aguero’s all-time record as the club’s top goalscorer might be in trouble.
