5 Man Utd academy starlets have now played their last game for the club, one was just getting started

As the season draws to a close, a lot of Manchester United stars may soon be playing their last games for the club.

Erik ten Hag will have a few decisions to make in regard to the first-team squad, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos mob taking the reigns of transfer activity.

There will be a plethora of outgoings, and hopefully a few incoming around Old Trafford. United will also continue to produce academy graduates who will integrate as so many have before into the first team.

Although, not all of them make it like that of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.

Five Academy stars leaving Manchester United

Nick Cox, head of the academy at Manchester United, has the tough job at the end of every season of letting some young Red Devils go.

Five members of the U16s are amongst those departing this summer, all of whom have already secured moves to new clubs this summer.

  • Rory Leech – Hull
  • Freddie Freedman – Everton
  • Majid Balogun – West Ham
  • Siem Eyob-Abraha – Sheff United
  • Nathaniel Mapengu – Stockport County

The club provided a classy gesture to the five academy players leaving. They presented them with a framed jersey to commemorate their time around Carrington.

One was just getting started…

Among those departing is Siem Eyob-Abraha, a forward who only just made his Manchester United U18 debut as they beat Everton 3-1 on Saturday.

He came on in the 84th minute to replace Ruben Curley, although he didn’t make much of an impact. A nice parting gift, we guess. Abraha will now try his hat at Sheffield United, where he’ll be looking to take his career to the next level.

The departures make room for some potential new recruits next season. The next wave of world-beaters will embark on the U18s squad. This includes the likes of exciting young talent such as Bendito Mantato and Amir Ibragimov.

As always in the case of Manchester United – the future is in safe hands.
