'Reliably informed': Celtic will need to pay more than £5m for reported transfer target

With Celtic looking to close the season with a league and Scottish Cup double, the fans will be hoping that on top of that, preparations are being made to strengthen the team this summer.

If Celtic do manage to win the league, automatic qualification for the Champions League beckons which means access to millions of UEFA pounds which will help make Brendan Rodgers‘ job in the transfer market a lot easier.

And it sounds like he might need them if what Superscoreboard host, Gordon Duncan, has said about one of our reported targets turns out to be true.

Celtic would need to pay more than £5m for Bojan Miovski

With 24 goals in total, Miovski has been linked with a move to Celtic and Brendan Rodgers has already admitted that he really likes the striker.

But it seems that the £5m price tag has been much talked about falls short of Aberdeen’s valuation after Duncan revealed live on-air that he had been told that it will take a ‘little bit more’ to tempt The Dons to sell their star striker.

Duncan said [Superscoreboard], “Let’s just say, I’m reliably informed that £5 million wouldn’t cut it for Bojan Miovski.

“That’s that’s the word that’s reaching me right now. I don’t need you to say anymore.

“People listening to this show, I’m reliably informed that you’ll need to add a little bit more.”

As many folk will know, Gordon Duncan admits to being a huge Motherwell fan and has a close bond to the club.

One of those was former CEO Alan Burrows who is now the Aberdeen CEO so one can only hazard a guess at who Duncan’s reliable informant could be.

Whatever price Aberdeen are looking for, if Celtic’s interest is real, I can’t see them paying north of £5m for a striker within our own league and I also can’t see the Pittodrie club having the appetite to sell their star man to one of their opponents in the same league.

There is no doubt Miovski would score goals for Celtic but, in my opinion, I can’t see him donning a green and white hooped jersey any time soon.
