Dion Dublin says one Liverpool player was ‘really lively’ against Tottenham from the first minute

One ‘really lively’ Liverpool player caught Dion Dublin’s eyes against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool finally got back to winning ways on Sunday afternoon after what was dreary April. It seems like though May will bring brighter times for the Reds.

Jurgen Klopp’s men secured a comfortable 4-2 victory over Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, which was their first convincing win in a while.

It was so convincing at one point that after being 4-0 up, Klopp’s men could even afford to take their foot of the pedal a little bit.

That saw Tottenham crawling two goals back, but even that wasn’t enough to inspire any threat of a comeback.

Dion Dublin on Cody Gakpo’s performance against Tottenham

Among the star players for Liverpool on Sunday afternoon was definitely Cody Gakpo. The Dutch forward has been in really good form in general over the last few weeks.

On Sunday, he finally got to play on the left-wing, and produced undoubtedly one of his best performances.

Gakpo was threatening all afternoon, and it was his cross at the beginning of the game that helped Liverpool break the deadlock.

Speaking on BBC 5 Live, Dion Dublin was really impressed by the Liverpool forward’s performance.

“Gakpo has looked sharp today.” Dublin said after Gakpo’s goal. “From minute one when Spurs came out of the blocks, he took on his defender and got into the corners.”

Earlier on in the commentary, Dublin handed out similar praise to Gakpo.

“Gakpo has looked really good and lively today, sort of coming in from the left-hand side, trying to play good passes, trying to get shots off as well.”

There are no questions about it. The Liverpool attacker was really good on Sunday, and now we just need to see him playing consistently like that for a longer stretch of time.
