Norchad Omier has committed to transfer to Baylor out of the transfer portal.

Omier made the announcement that he’d be joining the Bears on social media on Sunday.

“Thank you to everyone that took the time to reach out to me during this process,” wrote Omier in his post. “This was one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I want to give a special thanks to my parents, mentors, teammates, and the entire staff at the University of Miami for helping me get to this point. I will forever cherish the memories I made there and wish everything there nothing but the best! Lastly, I want to thank God for the talent and ability I have been given, as without Him I would not be where I am today.”

“I have taken the last few days to reflect, watch film, pray, and discuss everything with my family. After taking this all into account, all signs have led me in this direction and I am at peace with my decision,” Omier wrote. “With that being said, I have decided to commit to Baylor University and can’t wait to achieve those dreams together over the next year. Go BU and Sic’Em Bears!”

Omier will be entering his fifth season after spending the first two of his career at Arkansas State and the past two at Miami.

In that time, Omier has appeared in 120 games for the Red Wolves and the Hurricanes, including 117 starts. With the two programs, he has averaged 15.2 points, 11 rebounds, 1.4 steals, 1.3 blocks, and 1.1 assists while shooting 57.6% from the field. He has averaged a double-double in every single season and has led his teams in key statistics several times over.

During this last year in Coral Gables, Omier posted 17 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 55% from the field. That gave him team-highs in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks.
