Sporting director says he will ‘try everything’ to sign Manchester United man, he ‘overshadowed Mbappe’

Manchester United have to bring in new players this summer in order to improve, and will need to sell several too.

The club has a limited transfer budget and need to raise funds via player sales, so what happened in last week’s Champions League semi-final really was perfectly timed.

Jadon Sancho produced his best individual performance since, well, before he signed for Manchester United, back at Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho’s dribble-crazy performance blew fans and pundits away, and will certainly have hiked up his price tag, after it previously hit rock bottom.

Jadon Sancho future

Jadon Sancho was challenged to return to Manchester United and prove himself, in post-match comments made by Alessandro del Piero.

However, Sancho has no intention of returning to United, with an exit looming ahead.

And now Borussia Dortmund have made no secret of their desire to bring Sancho back to the club.

Sporting director Sebastien Kehl explained, via Fussball Transfers: “We will of course try everything.”

This includes looking at whether another loan might be feasible, but added that Sancho’s mesmerising display could have worked against them.

He said: “Of course they see how well he plays, they may have their own ideas. For example, selling him to another club.”

Kehl confirmed that no talks have yet taken place with United, or with Chelsea regarding loanee Ian Maatsen, and needs to find out: “What expectations do Chelsea and Manchester have?”

Sancho focusing on second leg

Borussia Dortmund have not truly beaten Paris Saint-Germain yet. They only lead them 1-0 after the first leg, with the return match to be held in Paris.

Still, Sancho did all he could, with TNT Sports pundit and former United star Owen Hargreaves telling the channel: “He has overshadowed the best player in the world, Kylian Mbappe.”

Mbappe will have something to say when the second leg comes around, but whatever happens, Sancho has proved his point already.

Sancho has shown enough to keep Dortmund’s interest beyond just this season;that was no guarantee when he arrived.

But Kehl raises a valuable point. Sancho’s performance may have stirred up interest from others clubs too, and that will work to Manchester United’s advantage.
