Who was part of Manchester United's meeting with Jadon Sancho in Germany

Manchester United are doing due diligence on Jadon Sancho over in Germany, and not just leaving him to his own devices.

Jadon Sancho‘s strong performance for Borussia Dortmund against Paris Saint-Germain has reignited discussion over his future.

Alessandro del Piero urged him to return to Manchester United, while fans believe Sancho has merely upped his price tag for a potential sale.

Sancho was sent out on loan to the Bundesliga side in January after falling out with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United meet Jadon Sancho

Manchester United had officials at the Westfalenstadion in midweek to watch Jadon Sancho’s display for Dortmund against Paris Saint-Germain.

Erik ten Hag has confirmed this was not an unusual occurrence, insisting the club have had scouts checking in on Sancho and reporting back throughout his stay.

He said: “We are visiting games, not only (Wednesday). We visit, I would not say all the games, but we have seen more games from Dortmund where Jadon was performing there.”

Ten Hag also added that United have held talks with Sancho, rather than simply leaving him under Dortmund’s care.

He said: “We also had a visit with him, we had a talk with him during his stay there and we will keep going with this process, we will continually be in contact and communicate with them.”

Ten Hag was not part of the meeting, with The Telegraph reporting who met with Sancho from Manchester United.

Matt Hargreaves, United’s director of player negotiations, and John Murtough, who has now left his role as football director.

This was part of United’s due diligence over Sancho’s future, with a return not completely ruled out from the club’s side, although the player is not keen on coming back.

Ten Hag said: “We will see in the summer what is going to happen.”

Expect Sancho to leave one way or another

One possibility isJadon Sancho’s loan gets extended, but ideally, Manchester United would want to sell him and raise funds.

What United and Sancho really need is a quick decision, to avoid the distraction of the player returning for pre-season, when he does not want to be there, or worse, skipping it and not turning up.

United have a chance for a clean slate under Ineos next season, and don’t want a repeat of the Sancho issues which undermined the start to this season.

That’s why its important for United to be meeting with Sancho now, learning about his intentions, and keeping up a dialogue, so that all parties can work together to find a constructive outcome for him next season, which most likely leads to his exit, one way or another.
