'Spurs still possible': Player in direct talks with Newcastle could actually still decide to join Tottenham

Tottenham are going to be busy this summer when it comes to transfers and have their eyes on a number of potential signings.

Ange Postecoglou spoke freely last week about the need to beef up and change his squad and there’s an expectation now that big changes will be made.

Coming off the back of four consecutive losses recently, Postecoglou will be more determined than ever to improve things over the summer.

Of course, a number of names are being linked and given it’s still only May, there is plenty of time for the rumour mill to go into overdrive.

But one player who could very much end up signing is Fulham defender, Tosin Adarabioyo. The former Manchester City man is apparently talking to Newcastle about a move.

However, Tottenham cannot be ruled out either.

Tottenham still a possible destination for Tosin Adarabioyo

Updating everyone on the situation involving Adarabioyo, journalist Ben Jacobs has taken to X just now to give the lowdown.

In that update, Jacobs confirms Newcastle are in direct talks with the defender.

However, Chelsea are also mentioned, while Tottenham are sill considered a possible landing spot as well, with it being suggested that Adarabioyo will wait out the season to see who ends up in Europe.

What Marco Silva has said about Tosin Adarabioyo

It’s little wonder there is interest in the Fulham man.

He has developed over the seasons with the Cottagers into a reliable performer and he clearly fancies taking the next step now and chancing his arm elsewhere.

He is a highly-rated defender as well, with current manager Marco Silva among those to praise him.

“He is a key player for us. He is one of the leaders in our dressing room and we need these guys to step in in the right moments and he did it. We missed him a lot, we missed him because he didn’t play the first three months of the season. Tosin is a special player for us, I can’t hide that situation,” Silva said back in December.

Clearly, then, Fulham will have a gaping hole to fill.

For Tottenham, though, the addition of a seasoned Premier League defender is something that would be seen as a smart move by their fanbase.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero have done well but strength in depth, and the ability to allow Postecoglou to maybe play a back three, could be crucial.
