'I would be': Alan Shearer says he'd be 'fuming' with Pep Guardiola just like £51m Man City star vs Wolves

Alan Shearer says he would be “fuming” with Pep Guardiola just like a certain Manchester City player was against Wolves.

As City defeated Wolves 5-1 on Saturday, they had several reasons to be over the moon.

Wolves present a challenge to most sides in the Premier League and to dispatch them in the manner the Sky Blues did was ominous for Arsenal.

Furthermore, Manchester City were far from convincing against Nottingham Forest, even though they did end up winning 2-0.

But their display against Wolves was a sign that Manchester City’s showing against Forest was a mere hiccup.

Even so, they did get the all-important three points, showcasing that they can win ugly and massacre teams as well.

Shearer says he’d be “fuming” with Guardiola vs Wolves like City star

One of the reasons why Liverpool’s title fight seems to have come crashing down is due to the nature of their results this season.

Far too often, Jurgen Klopp’s sides came back from behind or pulled off an epic comeback in games that should have been routine wins.

If City had lost or drawn to Wolves, perhaps the assumption would have been made that their performances had caught up to them.

As on several occasions this campaign, it seems like Pep Guardiola’s men have yet to play their best football, despite winning games.

However, that was not the case as City have scored 24 goals in their last six league outings.

The Premier League champions have quietly been playing some incredible football for the past few weeks.

But as Erling Haaland did not look like a happy man when he was substituted by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola against Wolves, Alan Shearer revealed he would have reacted in the same way.

“I loved it. Why shouldn’t he be fuming? He should be fuming. I would be fuming. I’ll be absolutely raging. You’re on four goals and you’ve got 10 or 15 minutes left and he takes you [off]. I would be exactly the same as him”, he said about the £51 million man’s reaction on The Rest Is Football podcast.

“He’s on a high, he hasn’t scored goals for a while, he’s had criticism and he’s got four, he’s back in the groove.”

Unlike Alan Shearer, Roy Keane felt Erling Haaland acted like a “spoilt brat” when he was seen arguing with Pep Guardiola after being taken off.

The 23-year-old poured cold water on the suggestions that he was frustrated after the contest.

No surprise to hear Alan Shearer agree with Erling Haaland

Alan Shearer must relate to Erling Haaland with being hungry to score goals at all times and as a result, if he was in the latter’s position, he would have been “fuming” with Pep Guardiola as well.

Shearer is a legend of the game and if he felt Haaland’s reaction was a needless tantrum, he perhaps would have called that out.

But being a fellow striker, the Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers legend might have found himself in similar situations.

Shearer and Haaland are two marksmen who never seemed content with scoring goals, which is why the pair were always prolific goalscorers.
