‘All the top clubs around Europe’: Daniel Sturridge worried 25-year-old Liverpool star could leave

Liverpool are set to enter a new era once Jurgen Klopp heads for the exit door in the summer.

After nearly a decade in charge, Liverpool are going to have a new face in the dugout and it might come with its challenges.

You feel, at a minimum, the powers that be at Anfield need to make sure the core group and the senior players remain for next season.

In some cases, if a huge offer comes in from Saudi Arabia for Mohamed Salah, then they might have no choice but to sell.

But players like Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Andy Robertson, Alisson Becker and Trent Alexander-Arnold need to remain.

Perhaps in a few years, once Arne Slot has settled in, some of these guys might be long gone.

But for now, they are needed more than ever before and Daniel Sturridge thinks someone like Alexander-Arnold tops that list.

The former striker stated that ‘all the top clubs in Europe’ are going to want to sign the attack-minded right-back, as he told Sky Sports Premier League (05/05/24 at 7:15 pm).

That’s why Sturridge was keen to tell Liverpool to tie the 25-year-old down to a new deal and become his own version of Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool future

“That’s a tough one because I think all the top clubs around Europe are going to be sniffing,” said Sturridge.

“Liverpool have got to do everything in their power to get him to sign on the dotted line because you can’t lose a man of Trent’s (quality), he is from the city, you are talking guys like Stevie G and Jamie Carragher who have represented one club and I think that’s what you kind of want for Trent.”

Will Trent Alexander-Arnold end his career at Liverpool?

As of this moment, he is a one-club man and Liverpool have had players he knows very well that have ended their careers at the club.

The interesting thing here is that Alexander-Arnold has won it all with his boyhood club.

Whereas Gerrard and Carragher were always chasing that Premier League title – and it, unfortunately, never came.

One thing is for sure, Alexander-Arnold can dine at the top table of any European team.

But that’s why the powers that be on Merseyside need to make sure he pens a new deal because he can lead the club into the next trophy-winning era.
